While the New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers, and Atlanta Braves can all be wagered on at a good price, the truth remains that there are two World Series favorites that are in a class of their own. The Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies lead their respective pennant races so far this season, and given the way in which they have dominated during the regular season schedule, there is little reason to doubt that they will end up in the World Series against eachother this sports betting fall.

The Phillies are listed as the MLB betting favorites at 9-5 odds and for good reason, as you don’t have to go fishing long to find out that they have the most talented pitching staff in the majors. Led by Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, and Cliff Lee, Philadelphia will be a tough test for any team to knock off, especially if their offense can continue to produce at the level they have so far this year. The Red Sox on the other hand aren’t as strong on the mound, but they do have a much more powerful offense to help them get through. Listed as 3-1 favorites to win it all this season, Boston started slow but quickly got into a rhythm as the team came together behind American League MVP candidate Adrian Gonzalez. There is still a long way to go, but don’t be surprised if it is the Red Sox and Phillies in the World Series this year.
