NFL betting fans are anticipating the beginning of the 2010 regular season which is only nine days away. Betting on NFL week one games can be rather difficulty, as every team debuts there new looks in week one. Meaning to say, some point spreads are based on last season’s results, giving teams an unfair shake. Here are three underdogs that can be bet upon to pull the upset in week one.
1. Cleveland Browns vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Two of the worst teams in the NFL during the 2009 regular season. Going into the game, many sportsbooks see the Buccaneers defeating the Browns by a field goal.
However, with the offseason signings of former gun slinger Jake Delhomme and new general manager Mike Holmgren, there is much to be excited about in Cleveland. Delhomme will have a plethora of options as wide receiver Joshua Cribbs looks to lead a much improved pass attack. As well, the Browns defense showed signs late last season, that when healthy they could dominate games. Look for the Browns to walk all over the favored Buccaneers.
2. Atlanta Falcons vs. Pittsburgh Steelers – The Steelers are still a favorite despite the absence of star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. While Roethlisberger serves a suspension for personal issues outside the game, the Steelers will be going through a rotation of quarterbacks.
Look for the Falcons to pull the not too surprising upset, as Matt Ryan appears destined for another solid campaign.
3. Cincinnati Bengals vs. New England Patriots – The Patriots are the same old well oiled machine, now that Wes Welker is healthy. On the other hand, the Bengals have finally added some depth and look to build on a successful 2009. With Tom Brady still in contract negotiations with the Patriots, look for his mind to be elsewhere. Meaning to say, the Bengals defense that ranked fourth in the league with their swarming style may be able to make a few key stops in this pivotal week one matchup.
