football-bettingNFL betting is perhaps the most popular sports wager in the history of North American sport. Football in America has grown tenfold since the league was created some 100 years ago.As per sports bettors’ digest, here are 3 different ways to bet on NFL games and how to take your chance with free picks.

1.   Straight Bets – As the name suggests, a straight bet is won, when the team you wager on wins the game. Some straight bets are also reliant on the point spread in which you can win more if one team wins by more than the spread. For instance, if the Browns at minus seven beat the plus seven Lions at $110, you would win $100. The total payout would then be $210, because you would get the 100 you win on the wager plus your original bet of 110.

2.   Totals Over/Under – In essence this form of wager is based upon the combined score predicted by a sportsbook or bookie. Your goal as the bettor is to wager on whether the combined score between the two teams will go over the bookies predicted score or under the bookies predicted score. So if a bookie picks a game to have a final of 40, fans betting the over need the final score to combine for 41 or more points, while the under bettor needs the score to be 39 or under.

3.   Money Line Wagers – A money line wager is one in which all you need is for your team to win the match. For instance a money line will appear like this:

Rams +200

Bengals – 280

For fans betting on the Rams to win the money line wager, the sportsbook asks you to risk $100 to get back $200. Conversely, for fans betting on the Bengals to win the game, because the Bengals are a favorite (symbolized by a minus sign) you are required to risk $280 to get back $100.
