Most NFL handicappers create rather complex betting systems to help win wagers. However today we present to you one of the simplest sports betting systems as anyone from a square to a handicapper can use this to produce a winning record.
Basically all you do is look at points scored and base your picks on this statistic. For instance over the last few seasons the New Orleans Saints have scored the most points in the league making them a safe bet to cover the spread in all of their games. Conversely, the St. Louis Rams have been one of the worst offensive teams in the league for a number of years and it is always a wise move to bet against them.
Further over the past six years the top five scoring teams have had an overall combined record of 279 wins and 186 losses. Meaning to say if you bet on teams with high octane offenses, you can have an overall win percentage of 66. Conversely, teams with low octane offenses amounted a combined overall record of 202- 265 an overall win percentage of 76.
Nevertheless, although teams with lower offensive outputs have a higher winning percentage, keep in mind that these teams have more point spreads favoring them. By covering less, fans betting the underdog should keep this system in mind.
One should always keep in mind that teams with high octane offenses do not always have the best defenses. Yet last season the two teams with the most points scored during the regular season met in the Super Bowl final for the first time as the New Orleans Saints faced the Indianapolis Colts. As well, both of the team’s defenses finally had good seasons, which allowed for the teams to dominate offensively while limiting their opponents to few if any points at all.
